«This is the time for private investment in Aveiro Port»
The last years were of a strong investment in the Port of Aveiro. Besides the ampliação of the port (it has around two km), the infrastructure benefits now from quotation funds at less than 10, from a railroad platform, has reconfigured its barra and it is doing now the prolonging of the north jetty in more than 200m.
Present at the Forum under the theme "The Roll of the Ports of Aveiro and Figueira da Foz in the Regional Development and in the reinforcement of the competitively of the Centre (region)",organized by the Industrial Association of the Aveiro District (AIDA) and that took place this weekend in Ílhavo, Ribau Esteves, president of the Intermunicipal Community of the Aveiro Region (CIRA) made a quite positive balance of what was the structural development of the Port of Aveiro. "This is the example of an enterprise that is public and that knew how to take very well the opportunity from the community funds to do the investment that it did", he said.
