HISTORICAL ARCHIVE OF THE PORT OF AVEIRO
Preserving the memory of a port and a region

The AHDAPA website availability has resulted from a process started in 2006 by the Port of Aveiro, process aimed to the inventorying, Cataloguing and preservation of the existing estate.
This was a long process (not finished yet) due to the huge number of Documents available and the accuracy required.

The first lot of thousands of existent documents shared in the web runs together with the present tendency of using the cybersphere to enlarge the traditional expositive spaces before restricted to the physical presentation in room.

The website, developed by IDEA-FACTORY is composed by 8 topics, sub-divided in 20 sections. “Cartografia”, “Manuscritos”, “Bibliografia”, “Periódicos”, “Não-periódicos”, “Artigos” and “Peças com História”, are some of the available sections. The media files also have their place of honour and more than a thousand pictures and two hundred videos and audio registers are already available.

There's still the menu for the reproductions of all the newsletters published by Port of Aveiro, that already exceeds one hundred editions available. The section “Clipping” is fulfilled with press publication about the Port, either written or in media files.
Also place for “Grafismos”, “Publicidade”, “Banners” and “Sites”. Last, there is also available some interventions, speeches and presentations made in several Port of Aveiro initiatives.

The port communities, portuguese or foreign, scientist or citizens in general have, from now on, a useful instrument of support for their researches.
The website also reveals itself as an excellent door for promotion of the history of the Port and its activity.

It should be noted that this is a pioneer initiative, because it is the first Portuguese Port Authority to place and share his historic archive on the web.

The public presentation of the HISTORICAL ARCHIVE OF THE PORT OF AVEIRO WEBSITE (AHDAPA) took place on Sala Coutinho de Lima, Port of Aveiro headquarters, 03.04.2009, and was made by Dinis Manuel Alves (PhD), project coordinator.
